The King is dead; long live the King...!
So, after something like 8 years in D4 Commercials, the time has come to change...
Ordered back in early January, this has finally turned up on the drive today:

So the D4 is off to the auctions on Tuesday courtesy of the leasing company - having originally thought that the D5 would be ‘OK until they get round to doing something about launching L663, Defender replacement..’ I have to say that I’m mighty impressed with the D5 so far...
As for the D4 - well, it’s spent the last 10 days with a central locking fault, either locking me out completely (dead glamorous, crawling over the seats from the boot...) or remaining resolutely unlocked whilst parked at Manchester Airport. Can’t say I’ll miss this one...!D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

I guess there is a reason why you park them this way around..
Mainly due to the fact that the idiot child across the road (genuinely... he’s something of a single cell organism, flapping around in the shallow end of the gene pool...) parks his car directly opposite, making it tight to swing in and risking tipping his up on two wheels if I misjudged it on reversing out.
Having been one of the haters, I’m getting less precious about the rear end - I have to reflect that I also vehemently disliked the D3 when originally launched, thinking it looked like a Transit and look how we now all deem this to be a ‘classic’ look!
The technology is amazing and I’m quite happy to have the ‘poshest van on the block’ with my D5 Commercial!D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

For me there are some things preventing me from ever getting a D5 [ unless they give me one..]..
- second row seats is for kids/perons up to 5ft tall. Any bigger you don't fit or get a sore rear face..
- fuel consumption. The 2-L is on par with my TdV6 due to all the environmental gimmicks, it has
a ridiculously MPG ;
- price. For the next 5 years I wouldn't get one. In the present situation diesel is in damnation-city
and gas is on the up, due to increased demand as diesel sales drop. And depreciation will continue
to be high untill it reaches rock-bottom. So for the next 5 years, I won't buy a used one even.
- I don't have anybody needing a ride. I mainly go about with my son or wife only. Girls are both
engaged with work or a bloke..
- I have a spanking new F-Type, and a #MiTo that takes care of many transport needs...
I might end up selling the D3 and renting a van or such if I need the space. But I wait just in case
our house in the Algarve sells, as I'd have to move some personal belongings back here..
