battery box multiplug cable broke. Fixed it
Hi,
need a bit of help to identify what this Black wire with a White trace does, can anyone shed some light for me please
D3 battery box on the engine side of the battery there is a mutliplug and the Black wire with a White trace has been damaged and broken it goes into the green seal position.
can this be soldered back together or some other repair that would be better?
not sure what it does as everything seems to be working fine, it is a D3 I am wanting to buy has a few things needing sorting, this is one bit that I am unsure about

Hiya
I think that wire goes to the viscous fan , assume using a multimeter set to continuity to test it from one end of the wire to the other
If that’s the one , will be black and white on top of the connector , bottom of the connector will be black / pink that goes onto the viscous fan
That black / white wire is it pin 8 plse, should be able to see it on the connector
Hope that helps

Hi,
thanks for the replies
hope your feeling well Gary
I have put an offer in on it, see what they say will be taking a few crimps spare wire and tape and even a little chocolate block to connect it somehow if I do buy it.
Had found a wiring diagram online but it had 200+ pages and after about 60 pages I gave up, had found a Black/White for the fan and also a Black/white for Injector 0, would have expected a bit of un-even running if it was anything to do with the injector loom.

Looks like enough wire to solder and shrink wrap it.

will update if it goes ahead.
Hiya
Fingers crossed all goes well , many thks and always a pleasure to make any small contribution where I can
Hopefully I’ll be able to get mine back on the road very soon , nothing like stretching out a job, lol
Must confess found those connectors by Wago very good as a temp repair until u can do something more permanent , Regarding that wire indeed as u say would expect the engine to run roughly if it had an injector wiring issue , at least if that wire goes to the fan it’s an easy repair, even if u need to run a new wire
All the best to u and the sale

Hi,
update is I bought the D3 twisted in another section of wire and taped it up to drive home.
This afternoon I have soldered in a short section between the break and covered with heat shrink sleeve, checked fan fuse and thats ok so fingers crossed thats one job off the list.
