strange issue HDC SPECIAL PROGRAMS OFF |
|
Hi , i ve got a strange issue , with my 10 plate disco 4 , starts runs well all systems work , but after 10-15 mins of running its as specific as that as I've timed and noted this happening the hdc ,special programs
shut down with all the relevant warning lights on the dash , if you stop restart the car the faults clear
but after the same time period the come on again , i have read this is normally a low voltage issue
i have had the battery checked and codes read no codes come up relating to this the only one which may relate to this was the steering angle sensor which was triggered when i had my alignment done and it was set incorrectly this has now been re done and code cleared we were hoping this was the issue but after a test drive the lights came on again .
any ideas my thinking is may be after a start up the alternator tops up the voltage to the battery ,
then maybe after this say the 10-15 mins it settles back to normal but the battery voltage drops
hence triggering the shut down .
any thoughts before i splash out on a new battery
many thanks Iain

I had a very very similar thing and it turned out to be the height sensors (one needed replacing) then a full recalibration using Auto Logic or similar. The faults never returned (about 8 months ago now)
Hope this helps

Hi,
It always used to do it as i left work i could basically time it to withing a few seconds. So, at my witts end with it, I took it to have all its fault codes read on my way to work. Then after work when it did it and the dropped me to my bumps etc i took it straight back to the dealership left it running in the car park so the fault was still "active" dragged a tech guy out and had him do it again. Sure enough it was a height sensor then the air compressor "overrunning" to try lift rear corner and having to cut out. This then sent the error message and for saftey drops you on your stops.
Hope this helps
