Transfer Case Front Input shaft bearing replacement
Hi, apologies if this has been covered in a thread somewhere else but I couldn’t find it after much searching.
I was replacing the front input shaft seal and found the bearing had collapsed, so now need to get the outer case of the bearing out and fit a new bearing. My question is.... do you have to take the circlip off and press the bearing outwards or do you press the bearing inwards? I have already separated the transfer case.
If anyone could advise that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Garry

Pound to a penny very few if anyone will have done this in the UK.
I would assume if its held in with a circlip it will come out the circlip side, old tip is to run a bead of weld around the inside of the track and once its cooled and contracted it will come out much easier.

If my memory serves me, the small spring clip, you need to push inwards and then the shaft can be tapped out.Bodsys Brake Bible

Remove the clip and then the bearing will come out towards the inside of the casing. They aren’t very tight, rest a well fitting socket against the bearing race and tap out with a hammer like you are changing wheel bearings in a motorbike wheel.
