D4 Battery Failure
2 days ago went to start the car after standing for a couple of days....NOWT.
Put battery on charge for six hours - fired up no problem and took for a run up and down the motorway for an hour.
Next day went to start - NOWT again.
Put on charge again for a full 24hours.
Battery voltage with 3A charger attached (and charging) 12.65v
Battery voltage with 3A charger attached (and not charging) dropped to 12.37v
Houtly battery voltage since then...
11.92v
12.36v (went up!!!)
12.5v (up again)
Tried to start at this point and dash went nuts with clock running backwards
Voltage then 10.39v
voltage since has been less than 12v
Is it too simplistic to assume this is just a Foobar'd battery or could it point to something more sinister?
Car is 66plate HSE
Battery is LR / Exide original fit (I think) 90Ah / 850A / AGM
Dash Cams fitted 2wks ago with Power magic set to (I think) 12.5v

My experience was the the original battery failed within weeks of the LR guarantee running out! In my case 3 years + a couple of weeks.

I doubt that a “66-plate HSE” would have a ten year old battery.

fuses pulled from dashcam on the second day.
Battery is as new as a 66 plate, so lets say, Dec2016 (don't know if it had been previously replaced before I got the car......suspect not!
On Charge again now.....to ensure I can lock / unlock more than anything
- lets see if it can resurrect the battery (doubt it, but its cheaper than the battery so lets give it a go......its not as if I nned to actually drive anywhere these days )2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us

Your profile says "2010 Discovery 4 TDV6 HSE" - hence my thought the battery was 10 years old.

Just waiting delivery of the charger now.
Amazon reduced the price of the charger by £20, LITERALLY minutes after I bought it
Someone told me a couple of months ago that if you leave items in your basket for a few hours, then they sometimes reduce the price to encourage you to actually buy them. Whether this is true or not I don't know
Seems cheaper than I was expecting.
I have used Tayna twice in the past and the service was great - has anybody had experience of this Enduroline battery???2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us

Well,
Nice new charger arrived last night.
In the meantime I had left the old charger connected just to ensure I could unlock the car.
Disconnected the charger and took a battery reading 12.7v
Took another reading an hour later at 12.9v
Came to use the new charger this morning and took a reading of 12.4v - enough to fire the car up no problem!!
Connected the new charger anyway
Selected 12v AGM mode, within 3 minutes green light was on indicating battery on full charge!!!!
Really confused now 2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us

12.4v is pretty low, after that amount of charging it should be 13.high something. I stand by my initial diagnosis.

IMNSHO......you're probably right!!!!
I just wish it would get over itself and die properly, so we could all move on
How confused will the car get if it has the battery removed for a couple of days????2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us

She’ll only be confused if you remove the battery, then keep going. Stripping, it’s da future.
