Angle grinder 1.me 0.
Changed front prop yesterday as I have what I can only describe as a vibration sound that you can’t feel anywhere except in the sound of the engine whilst moving if that makes any sense.
Anyway as you know you need to drop one side of the gearbox cross member to get prop out
The lovely tw**ts that did the clutch then had to do the crossover pipe after because they thought they would leave the brackets off (which they paid for) tightened the bolts that tight that one wouldn’t budge
Snapped one spanner
Anyway couldn’t just grind the head off as it wouldn’t push out enough without hitting the tank
Didn’t have access to recip saw so decided to cut bolt through with a slitting disc between the crossmember and it’s bracket
Guess what
As the bolt cut thru the grinder either snagged on that or pinched in the narrow gap and kicked back
Result in picture
I’m lucky could have been much worse and it was my fault for lacking a bit of attention
And after all that it’s still the same
Anybody any ideas I’ve changed loads over this last year but can’t fathom it,looks like I’m going to have to main dealer for diagnosis 😢
Tia

Yeh was very lucky , the speed in which it happened was unreal just glad it went in the direction it did and not towards me ,don’t think the safety specs would have done much,
Luckily tetanus is all up to date from when I was on the canals
Cheers

SinL did exactly the same with a battery powered grinder, cut through the tendon to his thumb and put it out of action for 4 months It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Was going to suggest Torque Converter but just remembered you said it was a manual.
Was dual mass flywheel done as they have a habit of vibration when worn.

You were lucky to get away without serious injuries. I’ve had a 9” grinder come back into my face and loosen a few teeth. As you said happens so fast
I had what I thought was an engine vibration and it turned out to be the DMF. When opened the indi said the clutch was still fairly good but the DMF was starting to fall apart.
Now with the radio on you can’t tell if the engine is running at tick over.

Always amazes me when you see on tv mostly abroad how they remove the guards on grinders and table saws and don’t see any problem
