Head unit spare space
Hi All,
This may be a bit of a daft question but on the head unit above the phone button and below the airbag light there is a long blanking plate.
Does this get used with any options? I've wondered if it is just a case that the face plate is symmetrical and it's never used, do they swap the buttons over on the LHD models so the phone button is always near the driver?
Thinking it could possibly be used as a mounting point for an additional switch or phone mount etc.
Thanks
Pezzer

Are you asking about a D3 or D4 and what type of headunit are you talking about? Base or 6CD?

It's the D3 6cd unit as found in the HSE.
Thanks

On LHD to the left is AM, FM, AUX, etc. and on the right a blanking plate and phone on/off. AFAIK there is no RHD/LHD difference. I’ve wondered a few times WTH could exist instead of the blanking plate but haven’t seen any references or pictures where it would be fitted with something else.

That's the one Kajtzu. The same blank space exists on my wifes Freelander 2 head unit.
