Hand brake safety and operation

Daft question. Could someone let me know what happens if you were to apply the electronic hand brake on a 2005 D3 when driving. My 10 year old daughter nearly pulled up the handbrake when driving at around 60kmh.
I should know but I have no idea what the safety precautions or potential hazards are in the handbrake applied in the wrong situation. I don't have the original D3 manual.
Thanks.

You stop very quickly. It's an additional emergency brake. Thumbs Up

As DSL said you stop very quickly. If it’s only a quick pull up of the button nothing happens. But if it’s held up you get a few loud warning beeps and then it applies the brakes as hard as you can imagine, above I think 5 mph it also lights up the brake lights but God help anyone close behind you.
I think everyone should test this so they know how it works in case they ever need to use it in an emergency. Maybe not at 60 mph though Whistle

Had it demonstrated at LRE Solihull...designed to stop fast and in a straight line with the aid of all braking resources...my passenger also knows what it does just in case...

Many thanks for your info and advice. Very good to know all of this in case of emergency. At least I know that bits of gearbox won't be flying out from the rear of the vehicle!
