Unstoppable rear wiper

My rear wiper at times wont stop (2010 D4). Even stranger, I have had it continue wiping even after turning the car off and locking it. Locking it started the wiper, unlocking the car stopped it. Strange no?

Problem goes away and then returns but I cant seem to find any pattern.

I have:
-checked connections,
-replaced rear wiper motor,
-took out the stalk, opened and cleaned it (although it looked pretty new inside).

Also 2 independants have looked at it, but no solution so far (1st one suggested motor so I replace that with aa used one).

Only thing left is maybe the relay. But I just cant explain this behaviour logically. What am I missing here? Any idea's?

Thanks,
Sige

I though wipers (front or rear) had a limit or positioning switch in the motor/gearbox so when the current was turned off it knew where to park itself?

But if you have changed the motor then that is maybe not worth looking into.

Some cars put their rear wiper in permanent wipe when reverse gear is selected but that normally relies in the front wipers already being active? I think on Land Rover it triggers an intermittent wipe. ON a VW I have it causes the same action.

I am not really helping here am I.............. I will get my coat Whistle

Interesting read-up here for you though http://what-when-how.com/automobile/windsc...utomobile/

Good luck all the same. Sounds bizarre.

Cheers.

Thanks. However after having disconnected the motor last night to stop the wiper, now it wont turn on anymore Sad

So I have to figure that one out first before I can see if your tip works. Could I need a reset somewhere after the motor has been disconnected?

I’d be tempted to have a look at the switch - only needs a small bit of fluff or crud to be in there and the circuit is left open.
