On my way home tonight on the north bound A1 near Worksop I passed a nice Coachman caravan attached to a recovery vehicle and a new D5 on its load bed
Always makes me feel sad
Hope it wasn't someone on here

I have been in that situation - its not nice. It was a long time ago when I had a 300TDi D1. I had driven up through France with our Lunar Delta on the back overnight, caught the ferry back to portsmouth, and about 3 miles out of Portsmouth on the M27 the waterpump pulley came off. Came home on a recovery truck with caravan in tow. Lucky to be side of the water.
One thing I did find was the caravan really got bounced being towed by the truck. There were screws out and loose all over the place inside the 'van when we got home.

I just think hope that never happens to me ,I'm well covered the situation but that's not the point it's someone's Long awaited holiday over
2weeks ago my son who owns a 57 plate 90 X's which is immaculate with a service history to die for melted number 1&2 piston on the way back from Scarborough in the snow just as he was passing an HGV
Took 5 hours to get 20 mi!es from the breakdown point to home
Green flag proper dropped the ball by sending the wrong vehicle to assist and then forgetting to send the correct one

Few years ago my caravan was towed more by recovery than my car!!!
Blooming GM gearbox issues on an X5.
Got a D1 300tdi at one point as kept the X5 off road to source parts, 45 miles towing caravan up the motorway and the head gasket went completely seizing the engine up!!
Following day it started OK and I could drive it up the ramps to strip the head off!
X5 got written off by Mr White Van Man, Still got the D1 and also the D3.If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking .. O
In all fairness towing a caravan, is not nice to break down at anytime.
Came out the NMM at junc 6 on M42 and seen a Disco 5 driver dive out to check his trailer.
May be nothing wrong at all.
As for the D5.
I cannot make my mind up!!!
If my D3 did blow up or was a right off tomorrow, i would buy a 3 or 4, before a 5.
Regards
Ray
