Jaguar S-Type gearbox into a D3??? |
|
Is this possible?
It seems to be a lot easier to get my hands on an secondhand S-type box than an LR one. I have read all about the reprogramming of replacement boxes but all my searches on here and on the net have not said if it is possible. Is the casing totally different or can the transfer box be bolted on to it etc?
Cheers...

The casing for the Jag 6HP transmission is designed for a propshaft to be fitted to the output drive flange, hence the tapered shape. With the 6HP for the Land Rover, it's designed to be attached to a transfer box.
I think that changing the mechatronic is the easiest part as you're looking to rebuild the whole box into your casing.
Not only that, I think that the internal ratios are different as is the performance of the torque converter, they have different K characteristics. 1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8
