Short FBH burn time on the remote..

I suppose I should be thankful for small mercies, as last year the car and remote had the huff with each other and weren't talking Rolling Eyes
However, now that they've decided to be friends again, I have noticed a vastly reduced burn time from the "normal" 20 minutes.....it's not long enough to clear the screen of even the mildest frost cover, and certainly not enough to warm the interior.
Car was in for a service yesterday, but they didn't have time to dig deeper other than to confirm it was working.
I assume there is nothing I can do to lengthen the burn time other than book it in again ?

I’m pretty sure you can change the timings using the remote. There’s a link on here somewhere to the manual I’ll see if I can find it !!

I am reliably informed the 20 minutes burn time is fixed, have you got a well charged battery and plenty of fuel in? What happens when the heater goes off? - does the red light on the remote blink.
What happens if you press the green start button after the FBH has stopped?-will it start again?

It says you can do it in the webasto manual but I haven’t tried it

It isn't Webasto that set the burn time it's the D4 electronics to prevent a flat battery. The only way the burn time can be changed as far as I'm aware is with an Altrox heater remote control.

Thank you both for the responses...
On a couple of occasions I didn't have enough in the tank, so I brimmed the tank and fully charged the battery on the CTEK....still no joy the next morning (-2c).....although a low battery or low tank would mean the remote FBH wouldn't fire ? Confused
I will have a good look through the manual (if for nothing else but to understand the system better)
I haven't taken much notice of the remote after activation but will keep an eye on it and see when it cuts out, and after how long Thumbs Up

LR brought out a new firmware in 2013/14 to give a longer burn time. It made a big difference to the heat when applied to my MY13. I did a post at the time complete with a test of interior temps vs time. There was a TSB that covered the issue.

ISTR 3 failed starts in a row through low fuel leads to a FBH lockout!
I must say the remote FBH on my D4 is nothing short of marvellous compared to the D3 remote FBH, after 15 minutes the interior is really warm, I can feel the heat hit me when I open the door, the heat appears to go into the cabin rather than into the engine.

Here's the thread Euan, you need to scan through it to find the tsb.

Can this be updated with an IId tool is the next question?

Thanks Gareth (and others), I’m tempted with a gearbox “flush” so I’ll go in armed with the TSB and see what they say Thumbs Up

I'm not sure if the 'flush' technology has reached the 8 speed just yet, but I've been following Robbies plan, and just doing a transmission oil change at each service. It changes about 4.5 litres of the oil, so over time, it will keep a relative proportion of new oil in the system.

Mine is on 87 k now, and has had 2 oil drops on the gearbox in the last 20k mikes. Smooth as silk still. Thumbs Up

Thanks Wiggs, I’ll have a look at the Altox
And yes Gareth, I know it’s not a true “flush” but they claim to be able to change “up to 90%” which will do for now Thumbs Up
