Morning
Having just fitted my rear ladder I now need to get some new gas struts.
After searching on here I see sgs seem to be the go to with a 520nm strut.
However everything I can find in the searching is a few years old now, so has anything changed or are they still the ones to go for.

Just replaced mine yesterday with new ones from SGS What a difference, I now either need to hold it all the way or stand back because it'll take my head off otherwise... Maya Gold MY05 HSE, Duratracs, RLD Sump Guard, RLD CB Aerial Mount/AE6110, RLD Spare Anti Theft, Altox FBH Remote, T-Maxx Split Charging System, Rear Power Panel, Rock Sliders...
FBH Cable available for borrowing to pay something back for all the help...

I can only find their stock ones for a disco 3. I'm presuming they are the same as for a disco 4 as there isn't any difference, but regardless I want the more powerful 525nm and there's no mention of the power on that one.

I, too, swapped my LR original struts to ones from SGS. Left a review on their site. Had them for roughly a month now and I’m happy with them. Price wise, they were cheaper than ones from Stabilus or some other brands. They really push up the lid too, watch out for your nose or chin

Is that with a ladder on?
Can anyone confirm that the gsc 1586 is the 525nm model. The standard oem on mine is 480nm.
I need the extra for the ladder weight

Unfortunately I don’t have a ladder on mine. The part I ordered/got was indeed GSC1586.

I just fitted a ladder and had the same issue in that the struts would no longer hold the door up. I ordered the sgs standard ones as I was not aware of any super special ones with additional power.
The standard ones that I have work fine. I.e. They open the door and hold it up as designed.
For reference I have the prospered ladder. Disco3 project

Well the new ones arrived today and so fitted.
But they don't get the boot up all the way. I have to help it the last bit.
Why can't this be easy? I even spoke to the guy at sgs.

Strange, they opened my old D3 with Prospeed ladder on with no issues!
On very cold days, they would slow down though, so this may explain your problem? Iggy/Ieuan

Yeah, I was just going over your post again and it seems to be the same thing. Only it's not really cold tonight. Just want it all to work. Might get them to put more in but don't want to be paying for p&p when I would have thought they'd know what they where doing.
