Cruise control turning itself off ? |
|
Greetings chaps,
first long Journey over the festive period shows up the first fault
When using the 'minus' side of the speed set rocker on the steering wheel to slow down a tad, it turns itself off and won't come back on ( at all ) until after I've turned it off and re-started
It doesn't do this every time, I guess its friendly dealer time ?
anyone else had this ?

I had a problem with my cruise control... it would work perfectly for most of the journey, then would just stop working, particularly annoying on a motorway when you aren't able to stop and restart car.
I mentioned it to the Service Centre when it went in for its last service, and it seems to have been cured as I've not noticed it happened since. As you slide down the banister of life

Mine does this all the time - cruise will only work once on each journey and then stops.
Yesterday the steering wheel buttons started doing other strange things like volume up would change to telephone mode (which isn't fitted) and volume down would change the radio channel ??? (ie. no volume control on the wheel)
I'm beginning to think these are all connected, but I hate loosing the car for a day down the dealers again, just for the cruise. 2005 D3 HSE

The 'clock spring' was replaced in the steering wheel on mine, quick dealer job, Happy days. Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"
I would Reply:
"Duratrac"

Mine does the same, almost on a daily basis. sometimes after 3 kms, sometimes after 60.
Been to dealer twice. 1st time they changed the button on the steering wheel, 2nd time the brake light switch.
Still not solved, try again next service.
regards,
Thomas

There are two possible causes, a mechanical issue with the clock spring connection or the need for a software update.
I had the same symptoms as motoberg, try to adjust speed and the cruise would drop out not to return unless restarted.
My local dealer Guava fixed it with a software update, it was a known issue at the time last July. 2016 D4 Landmark
