Between a 2009 370000 km driven and a 2007 196000 km driven vehicle I’d take the latter.

I asked him more about the car. Here is his answer:
Hi Jonathon.
It is common for these engines to fail anywhere from 150k due to bottom end bearing failure.
This had a fully reconditioned exchange engine fitted by an engine remanufacturing company.
All new belts were fitted at this time too.
As I have been using it for a few trips to Germany I had a Land Rover specialist give it a full check over and anything needed was done.
This included brakes. Full front arms. Intake manifold. Full service. Full fluid changes. Full turbo vacuum pipe kit change. Plus bits more
No wear anywhere apart from a bit on drivers seat folding armrest and door card chips where it's hit the seatbelt buckle.
Rear seats as new. Carpets as new. Steering wheel fine.
It wants now for nothing.
I have bought myself a new Picasso that does 70 mpg instead of 30 mpg in the Land Rover. Simple as that !!
Does that provide me with reassurance?

I love their warranty policy, which basically says all their vehicles are sold as scrap so no warranty provided D4 GS 12MY

I certainly wouldn’t put my money into that D4, I’d be more tempted if it had the original engine than a reconditioned.

I don't think I would entertain either of them to be honest.
Have you checked the vehicles on here for sale?
A couple of what appears to be really nice and better value ones there.
Just my opinion

There are a lot of bad re-conditioners out there and their is a debate about what parts are actually available to recondition these engines. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

I paid £15k for a 2010 HSE with 107k last month, but I saw them with similar miles for as little as £13.5k. That D4 would have to be a lot cheaper to make sense.

I would say both to expensive for what they are, you also have to bear in mind some time in the future you are going to want to sell it on and what will a 300k D4 be worth?
Have a look for discovery metropolis for high spec, only available in 06/56 plates as only 300 made, basically HSE with all the toys/bling.
