Discovery 3 won’t speed above 60MPH?

Hello

I’ve recently purchased a discovery 3 2006 HSE. I travelled on the motorway and couldn’t go above 60MPH. The cruise control buttons on the steering wheel don’t seem to work. Does anyone know why I cannot speed over 60MPH? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Many thanks

It's either lacking in power, or the brakes are binding. Anything else to give a clue? Welcome Thumbs Up

After 10 years the Discovery 3 will initiate LR's energy efficiency and emissions mode. This is to limit the environmental harm that big diesel engines are acknowledged to do. It is because of this that your speed is limited.

Could be engine or gearbox related (said confidently in the hope that peeps forget I'm a complete tech numpty), tea leafs (fault codes) would be a good start.

Dompip, there is an absolute wealth of skills and experiences on here on these cars, you're not helping peeps in any way by giving absolute minimal information. The more info you pass to them the more they can bring that to bear. Just saying your car doesn't go above 60mph doesn't really help.

Has it not been above 60 at all since you have had it ? I take it the vehicle is a standard car and not a commercial ? Does anyone know if it’s possible to have a speed limiter option enabled in the cars programming ? Reason I say is because my last van was limited to 60mph. It drove me nuts and that was programmed into it. I would have had to have the ecu reflashed to remove the limiter luckily though (?) the van spat its engine out so I chopped it for a transit.

I’ve had the car 2 weeks and have been driving around with no issues. No warning lights, Nothing on the dash that reports any problems, nothing on the info button. I took the car on the motorway yesterday and could not speed over 60MPH. There is no indication that there is any problems. It’s drives fine below 60MPH. I’ve booked it in for a service and reported a fault so we will see what the outcome is. Thanks
