Phone control
Some people have started to use whatsapp to phone me .
I can use the in car bluetooth to speak and hear them if I answer via the phone. Is there a trick to answer/call via the car control buttons?L633 Defender

I would simply encourage my friends & family NOT to use Whatsapp.
If they want to use VOIP there are many more secure options, maybe something like Signal which is an encrypted communications app for Android and iOS. A desktop version is also available for Linux, Windows, and macOS.

There's one messaging app we should all be using: Signal. It has strong encryption, it's free, it works on every mobile platform, and the developers are committed to keeping it simple and fast by not mucking up the experience with ads, web-tracking, stickers, or animated poop emoji.

WhatsApp is fully encrypted which is why the security services and our utterly useless last few home secretaries wanted it banned.

Maybe ....but then surely any developer could do the same ...who can prove total encryption? ...they all must leave a back door somewhere. Obviously even the best of the hackers & intelligence services haven't found it yet

That wasn't the issue, the issue was can Facebook see the messages and calls and the answer is yes they can. Any encryption is breakable as it is only a mathematical calculation, it is a question of resources and the desire to do it. Everyone said the secure enclave in an iPhone was unbreakable, but it wasn't. At the end of the day any security is only as strong as the weakest link, we learnt that back in WW2 when a German operator sent a message twice without changing the code (it's usually the human element).
We'll never know what the intelligence agencies or hackers know. If there was a system that you'd worked out how to crack wouldn't you want all the "baddies" to use it? I guess an easy way is to shout that its terrible all these terrorists can use this as a means of communication which is likely to attract a percentage of potential targets to use this means and thereby making it easier to track them. The UK were selling Enigma machines log after WW2 to countries believing they were uncrackable........DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Doesn't matter what encryption is used, it is still a mathematical problem to break and that comes down to resources. WhatsApp collects a lot more data than Signal, I wonder why? If you WhatsApp someone its funny how they come up as a suggested friend on Facebook.
At the end of the day does it matter any way? I don't care who knows about my conversations and if I did I wouldn't use any of the electronic means to convey it.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
