Only Normal Height Available |
|
Every day after a couple of minutes driving I get the "Only Normal Height Available" warning and yellow triangle. This is an early D4 with 190,000 relatively trouble free miles. LR garage says a new compressor is needed and they are quoting me £900 ! Car drives just fine and no perceptible suspension issues. As a newly retired person without a pension yet - was hoping to find better things to do with my savings than blow £900 on this. Any work arounds or cost saving ideas very welcome Disco 4 TDV6HSE

You’ll need the codes read, but with those miles the reservoir will probably be filling to slow and that will tigger the fault.

Yep, dealer advised fault codes were about resevoir filling too slowly. Is there no fix other than a completely new compressor unit at £900 Disco 4 TDV6HSE

900 quid isn't too bad for 190k miles! Have you thought about diy? I don't think it's that difficult?

Or do what I done and drive it on and never worry, 3 year with my D3 never caused me any issue and sailed through its MOT’s. I only ever used access height on occasions anyway.

That's probably the answer. Unless you really need to lower or higher the car, it'll work fine in normal ride height. I don't think there's another way around it other than replacing the compressor though. But I expect it's damned annoying.

Having the same issues.. the original compressor has been fitted to mine since 2005. No problems until the other day. "HDC fault" "Special Programs Off" "Car Lowering"
A trip to my local Indy and i drove off decidedly poorer with a noiser compressor but working suspension.
48 hours and less than 100 miles later and I get ping pong "suspension fault" from the dash everytime I start the car. It's back with the Indy. The landrover supiled compressors are often faulty from new apparently and I'm another unlucky one.
Insisting it comes with warranty on parts as I'm not forking out that much every year because Landrover are supplying cheep rubbish parts.
Fingers crossed I get mine back today. Narpy Grill, tinted windows, Smooth leather wheel (TLO Group buy), ACM fitted (thanks TLO), Rear door loom and Row 2 & 3 audio switch upgrade, RRS 20" wheel change, 285 Cooper LTZ's Sat Nav Mod (until I get a Faultmate upgrade), Front & Rear lamp guards. 4x4 screen now switched on - Woody32, Follow me home reverse lights - woody32, Auto release EPB - Woody32. Off Road Navigation - Woody32. Remap + EGR's switched off. Full chassis clean and Waxoyl.

My 2013 D4 commercial only gets the Normal Height Only message when its really cold.
Did it this morning -4 degrees here.
It did it last year just after Christmas in North Wales on a mighty cold morning.
Does not appear to effect anything, just get the message and a yellow symbol.
Works fine on the second start up.
Does not show any fault codes.
Is it just a sensor having a bit of frost in it, or the compressor iced up somehow initially?
Not sure if it will happen tomorrow as we are due rain?
