Glove box light ( an apology to DSL ? )

ok ... in another thread the man himself posted

How do you change the glovebox light, that is without attacking it with a shovel or crowbar? Mr. Green

And I put up a picture and explanation of squeezing the tabs to remove the whole switch.

Obviously that was BEFORE I tried to get the damned thing back into place.

So ... after the switch laying around for weeks, I went out and bought some LEDs, one of which would end up in the glovebox light.

When I did the puddle lights, I cut strips from beer cans ... and remember you can't use old ones, you HAVE to drink the contents of a new one so you can use the shiny metal ... and glued it to the dark plastic above the light so it reflected more light in the direction I wanted. So I fashioned a similar attachment for the switch ...

... and spent a futile 30 mins trying to get it back into place.

However ... before I ripped it off and gave up (time enough for the car to go to sleep so I thought I'd blown the fuse ... and does anyone know which fuse it is ?? ), decided that actually the spill of light was a positive as it lit up the area behind the glove box if I needed to change fuses.

So here's the result.

both images in daylight.

I'd also hedged my bets and bought some very compact LEDs, but as I managed to get the monster one
in the glovebox light, I used these to replace the ones I'd had in the number plate lights, which I'd not been pleased with as they pressed hard against the plastic lens.

and comparison of LED shape/size ...
