Gearbox problems
My auto box on my 2006 D3 HSE 2.7tdv6 is slowly deteriorating.
I know that ideally I would go for a full rebuild and new torque converter but I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend £2.5k on the car as it's done over 155k and not worth much now.
If I was to source a used box (I know it's a bit of a gamble), how much work and cost is involved in fitting it? I imagine it'd need a new sump pan and obviously the oil, so that's probably £200. How long does it take a decent Indy to do a gearbox swap? Anything else to be done whilst we're in there?

I'd recommend a plastic sump.
Easy to fit while out of the car and shouldn't leak like metal ones

Ok, I saw there are plastic and metal sumps.
Any idea how long it'll take a garage to do the swap?

Geoff I second that, just fitted the ZF one which has a drainer and magnets etc and is strong enough to not distort as long as you use the correct tightening sequence, and of course you can replace the filter, which in my humble opinion needs replacing far more often than 10years as does the oil of course.
