Whoosing noise and loss of power |
|
Bit of an odd one...
Driving home last night, heading up a hill and experience a loss of power and a noticeable whooshing noise coming from the drivers side. First thought is that it was one of the intercooler hoses, although these were all replaced earlier this year.
Checked tonight and all hoses look okay (as best as can be checked without removing completely), but did notice the bottom hose connection (nest to the FBH exhaust) was not on tight. Refitted properly and took out for a test drive. More power (though not 100%) but still the whooshing noise from the drivers side when accelerating. It almost sounds like its coming from the air box. When revving in the garage with the air box off and air filter out the whooshing sound wasn't noticeable but I didn't fancy testing on the open road like this. I cant see anything obvious but maybe I'm missing something.
Any ideas?? Dave Neil

I would remove the large hose and check it thoroughly, then have a good look at the intercooler itself

i would be looking at the intercooler itself as mine did similar and blew out loads of black smoke under power.

Thanks for the replies. Will check the large hose again tonight and try and take a look at the intercooler itself. Dave Neil

Bit odd as no signs of black smoke Hopefully just a hose again! Dave Neil

I had a similar issue, and tracked it down to the small hose on the turbo. It had a great big slit in it.
