Annoying noise from rear seat - narrowed down
I've been niggled for the past 18 months by a noise from the back, somewhere behind the drivers seat.
Through a process of elimination (seat folded down, then forward) have now narrowed this down to coming from the left hand side of the seat back on the right seat (near the seatbelt).
There is a loud noise you can replicate when you apply movement (left and right) to the seat back appearing to be coming from/under the plastic cowling around the seat belt buckle.
Anyone ever seen this or have any ideas? I've tried padding out between the two plastic parts on each seat base/back to no avail.
Cheers Luke

Have you checked that the bolts holding the seats in place are tightened up. If they are a little loose they may be allowing a little movement in the seat

The torx type bolts underneath that fix the frame to the floor? I haven't yet. Anyone know what size bit is needed?
Folding the back of the seat over seems to improve things (6 seater anyone? ) but that could be because the back and bum supports are keeping the seat tighter and nothing to do with the fixings.
Worth a look underneath definitelyLuke

I find the annoying noise from the back seat goes when the kids aren't in the car.
In fact all the annoying noises go when I'm on my own in it

The seat belt buckle mounts have a spring round the bolt that pushes them down against the seat to keep them from rattling, one of mine wasn't on right, had no tension on it and the buckle was rattling as I was driving.Jaguar Land Rover: "Building great cars, badly."

When I had an annoying rattle from the rear seat on my 64 plate,by a process of elimination, I narrowed it down to the upper handle that you pull to lower the seat back. Mine was the rear drivers side. In the end I had to remove the seat back and peel back the seat covering to reveal the mechanism. I cut a slot in a nylon washer and inserted it to take up the slack. 12 months on all still quiet. Unfortunaly I didn’t take any photos.
I only mention this beacause initially I thought it was seat belt buckle. And then seat latch, which I padded out with rubber but the noise continued.Currently 2015 D4 SE Tech, Corris Grey
