Heard it all now.

Currently on a train from Cardiff to North Wales, delayed at Hereford as we hit a pheasant, we are currently speculating how big this pheasant was to damage the train!

One of our drivers hit a pheasant with one of our coaches, the bird completely obliterated the windscreen. That was a 50mph strike.

Working at Aston Martin and a Vanquish hit one on test at the Millbrook bowl at big 3 figure speed.

Went clean through the headlamp into the engine bay, Censored the bumper and bonnet in process and made a hell of a mess of the engine bay......

Racing a Ford Anglia 105E in the mid-60's I was the first car out for practice, at IIRC, Croft.

A pheasant flew into, and through, the windscreen car, and the remains broke the back of, the admittedly light weight, passenger seat.

We fitted a new windscreen, welded up the seat, and pressure washed the car, and I competed the next day. But the Anglia stank of "dead meat" for many more months, despite more pressure washes, and replacing the passenger seat.

It scared the s Censored t out of me as well as covering me in pheasant s Censored t & remains.

You probably won't be the only ones speculating as to its size - birds and animals bigger than a pheasant are Network Rail's responsibility and they have to pick up the tab; from a pheasant down, it's the TOC's tough luck - the odd pheasant is fair game...
