Apple branded products

Just gone from an iPhone 6s to a 7 so looking for a case. Had genuine apple product on my 6. It appears it's described as a 'silicon case' and I wanted to replicate it. It's a rigid but slightly flexible material with a 'greasy' feel to exterior and flocked interior. Obviously I no longer have the box it was in and there is no product number on it, etc. (it was bundled with the i6 phone when I got it)

Went into local phone retailers and they had a range of apple branded and aftermarket one's. Asked them to show me a few as they are £25-40 (35-50+ for apple ones) or so, not going to just get one on a whim at that price Rolling Eyes

All the non-branded one's were Censored TBH and certainly at the price they wanted, a fiver jobbie off the internet or local market at least as good.

However they were not allowed to open the apple branded items as they are sealed so won't break the seal. So you're expected to shell out £40+ without at least checking the merchandise? If they could tell me "this one is exactly same as your old one" then I'd buy it but three shops couldn't do that Rolling Eyes

So still no case...... Sad

The Apple branded cases are excellent but you do pay a premium.

I belief they are lined as well which stops them rubbing the phone.

.....and I'm prepared to pay that premium to get the same as I had on my i6. However, I'm not taking the word of some pimply, bored, yoof that "yeah mate should be what you need" (open brackets ' but you're f Censored ed if it isn't once you've broken that seal' close brackets)....... Rolling Eyes

I find this site has good recommendations.

https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-iphone-7-and-7-plus-cases/

My wife has the Apple case on her 6S and it feels nice to hold, flock lined, but the coating has worn in the corners where she has it in her jeans pocket.

Daughter has destroyed two gorgeous £45 Apple iPhone 7 covers in a year, she picks at them or takes them off and stands on them, either/or. She does the same with £25 Apple screen protectors

I've now given her a cheapie cover and protector and they seems to have lasted and no chaffing!

Lifeproof Fré case is the best I’ve found. Come with a 2-year warranty, are dust, shock and waterproof (2m). I twice somehow dropped my phone into the bucket whilst mixing tile adhesive and alike and the case as well as the phone withstood the battering it got. Once had to claim for a broken seal on the ringer on/off switch it of the case and it was simple and no quibble, just got a complete new case.
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

That's a good review site Pely' and helped me locate the exact Apple type I wanted on Amazon for half the price of retail stores 👍

One of the shops said the Apple one I wanted was cr@p and wore out easily but I've had mine for a year and it's still mint. Be interesting to see how it fares with SWMBO as she's having my old i6 Rolling Eyes

Tech21 are really good had one on my iPhone 6s for last 2years +
Also use a Zagg screen protector, lifetime guarantee on this. One noticed what I thought was a cracked screen, but fortunately it was only protector, they sent a new one within a couple of days

Thumbs Up

But as you've found what you were looking for this might be of use to someone else Whistle

+1 for lifeproof. I have a lifeproof Nüud for my iPhone 6 and the phone has dropped 8-10 foot a few times without any problems. I'm a farmer and in the evenings I wash the phone under the tap.
I also broke the clip for the charging cable and they posted out a new one no questions asked.

I always go for Spigen cases and relatively cheap protectors. Keeps my phones looking tip top in my opinion
