Make sure you haven't dropped it into the air box.

Advanced is charging £5 delivery?.. maybe if asked nicely they'd use a jiffy instead of the standard charge?

Bit steep when most screws are around £20 per 1000 isnt it
Ah well, I am sure I can find other items to make an order up from the good folk at Advanced
The disapearing screw most definatley did not go into the airbox Gareth, goodpoint though.
Thanks for the help chaps

Yeah, that's what i was going to do if needed, add them if ordering something else.I don't mind having to pay for them on the grand scale of running costs in general it's peanuts.but the over £6 one plus £1 pound delivery made me have a good laugh. Andy

1. Ensure you don't lose the screws when you remove the airbox lid
2. Ensure the airbox lid to be pulled down onto the airbox casing when tightened.
So i'm improvising
I picked up some stainless No2 x 30 posi head screws today. As you can see below i've filed them to a partial thread.
They are a little thicker than the original, so i might have to re drill the hole in the plastic, but the plan is to heat then & then screw them in to recut a new thread.

Ok, it worked & i'm quite please with the results. Just a little thing, but it looks better & I now have easy access for the future.
I drilled the lid holes out to 4.5mm. This gave enough plastic for the screw to bite & then the un threaded shank of the screw to drop through.

I then refitted the lid but removed the screws one by one. I then warmed each one gently with a blow torch (not to hot so as to melt the plastic, just soften it). Then drove the screw home & left to cool. Once cooled, I removed them all again & sprayed with a small amount of lithium grease just to help prevent any seizing. Refitted.
They now screw home like a father into a mother
Here is the end result for £1.05 & an hour of my time

Torx head is a big improvement vs Philips type, the operations of unscrewing and screwing are much simpler and the screw head will not ruin.Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition
