Can you elaborate the "AA" and "AB" part?

Part number matches with Landrover quick fit scanner picks them up but my car didn’t purchased another set off the forum and my car is picking them up and the difference was the part number ended in Ab as if you look in the picture the part number ends AA but I am told they don’t need programming? Hope this helps

Just to clarify that the TPMSs ending "AB" - don't need coding.
Does this mean if fitted to a car, the car should "find" them within a few miles of being driven?
I was told:-
Quote:
The CJB can automatically detect, under all operating conditions, the following:
one or more tire pressure sensors have been replaced
one or more tire pressure sensor identifications are missing
one or more ‘alien’ identifications are being received, i.e. the CJB can reject identifications from tire pressure sensors that do not belong to the vehicle
the spare tire and one of the tires in use on the vehicle have exchanged position on the vehicle.
If the tire pressure sensors fitted to the running wheels (not the spare) are changed, the CJB can learn the new sensor identifications automatically. The learn function requires no manual intervention by the driver.
If a new sensor is fitted to the spare tire it must have its identification code programmed into the CJB using a Land Rover approved diagnostic system, or used on the vehicle as a 'running' wheel and the vehicle driven for 15 minutes at more than 12.5 mph (20 km/h).
SPARE TIRE IDENTIFICATION
Depending on the vehicle specification, the spare tire may or may not be fitted with a tire pressure sensor.
CJB referred to above is the Central Junction Box, sometimes (I am told wrongly) called the BCU (Body Control Unit).
As you might guess I am confused.

Car will learn new sensors, doesn't need any programming.
I speculate that it does depend on having the correct sensors for the car. I read a thread a long time ago that suggested that there were two different sensors used on D4s because some replacements seemed to work some didn't even though they seemingly had the same part numbers.
My guess is that if the car is originally fitted with sensors ending in AA then only replacement sensors ending in AA will work and likewise if fitted with AB then only replacements of AB type will work. Frustrating thing is, no way of easily working out if you have an AA or AB car without taking a wheel and tyre off.
Those that purchased replacements from a LR dealer rather than online always seemed to be successful first time round which implies dealers can tell which ones are required from the VIN maybe?

That would seem to be the case for mine, bought a set for my other wheels which did not work, they were "AA" bought another set of "AB"'s and they work, would be good to see what the originals are as that would prove it 100% but wont be able to do that until the tyres are worn and need changed.
Sorry for hijacking your for sale thread stephanw46 but think we have found some useful info for future.
GLWTS.

According to Landrover the four I have ending in AA is the right part number but I couldn’t get them to work, strange but at least I am up and running with no tmps fault, so next thing to do is take off the HSE lux wheels and store them until the spring as for the AA AB sensors at least it will help other members
