my media/headunit decides not to work once a month or so - it either doesn't work at all, or just flashes but doesn't come on
removing/replacing the fuse seems to resolve it but I wondered if there was something simple that might be causing it and, hopefully, I can avoid doing?

It's not that the forum can't solve it, it more a case that there isn't enough info to work with.
Intermittent faults are notoriously difficult to diagnose, even more so when it's electronics. I would guess that is a fault at the component level within the head unit.
Change the head unit. That'll prove whether it's the unit or the car (unlikely)Richard

it'll be the brake switch. If nothing else works, it's always that
