| Scraping noise off side engine area |

Not sure if this is the right section to post this....anyway....
Over the past 24 - 48hrs my D3 06 plate has developed a scraping noise which seems to be related to revs . It's most noticeable coming from the off side section of the engine inside/above the wheel arch area. It sounds likes a whirring/scraping noise as if a bearing is dry or some kind of pump isn't running right. I'm totally new to the D3 having only just upgraded from a 300tdi so don't know the engine at all.
I've uploaded a video at idle which hopefully sheds some light on the noise as these things are often difficult to explain in text.
I haven't had the car that long, maybe 3 months. About 2 weeks after it was bought the alternator packed up which was repaired by the secondhand dealer. I'm wondering if it could be related to that as it's in that kind of area.
Can anyone shed any light on possible issues to look at?

Get the fan off and have a bettter look.
The alternator is on that side but could easilly be one of the belt tensioner or idler gear bearings, either way, don't leave it too long or things coulf get very expensive, very quickly.

Thanks, was wondering if it could be the auxiliary belt tensioner bearings running dry.
It's going in for diagnosis first thing tomorrow and will probably just have it off the road in case. I'm now trying to work out what the worst case costs might be of all the possible issues!

Is the viscous fan hitting the inlet elbow just before the EGR butterfly? If the elbow is not pushed fully home, it can foul the fan blades New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

It doesn't really sound like a fan scraping. Definitely more the sound of a bearing running dry but will check in the morning.
I've got to drive about 40miles to the garage near work so hopefully it will make it without causing too much damage.

turns out it was dodgy alternator bearings so not too expensive a fix in the end!
