I am about to replace the rotors on the front brakes which require a 21mm bi-hex or 12 point socket.
My query is what should I buy? Are 12 point bolts used elsewhere in the car, i.e. should I buy a set or just the one socket? A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an MG5 EV

The 21mm socket in my Halfords Advanced set worked fine, it's not the 6 sided ones obviously, Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

Unfortunately mine is the 6 point one.
It’s not an issue I have had until now, I even have a 12 point fixed ring to undo it but need the socket to torque up at the end.
2 white knuckles (or even 4 ) is not going to hack it when it comes to brakes. A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an MG5 EV

I can’t think of other 12 point bolts on a D3, it may be that the rear brake caliper carriers have smaller bi-hex bolts , ( there are many 6 point, and quite a few Torx), so probably best to just buy one 21mm x 1/2” drive bi-hex socket. 6 point are stronger, and more likely to undo a very tight hexagonal headed bolt without damaging either the bolt head or the socket. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.
