Wing Mirrors stopped adjusting.
Hi all.
Having an issue with the wing mirrors on my 55 plate D3 HSE, and could do with some pointers to get me started on fixing it.
I’ve always had what appears to be a pretty standard issue with the passenger side wing mirror, in that it drops it’s adjustment down occasionally whilst in reverse and it needs to be adjusted up afterwards with the joystick.
I also adjust both mirrors down to help me reverse it through my garage door to work on it, and Mrs Nasher adjusts them when she drives it, so the mirrors are adjusted reasonably often.
I also have to park in some tight spots for work, so tend to powerfold the mirrors in when parked several times a week.
I’ve noticed a couple of times recently, that after the Passenger side mirror had dropped in reverse it would not move at all afterwards.
At first I thought it was just stuck, but the Drivers side mirror had also stopped moving using the joystick, although both powerfolded in and out OK.
On one occasion the joystick control for both returned after powerfolding the mirrors in and out, yet on two other occasions the joystick control didn’t return until after I’d cycled the ignition off and on again.
Unfortunately they have both now stopped working completely, although both do powerfold OK.
I’m not showing any faults from the body control module ECU when I plug in my Nanocom.
Does anyone have any suggestions where to start looking for what could be causing the fault?
Remember both have stopped working at the same time, so it’s not a jammed motor, and both are still powerfolding OK.
Thanks

Have you tried turning off the auto-dipping? I'd hazard a guess the screwed up memory module is causing it.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Good idea, will give it a go later at home.
Need to work out how first though, I assume it's in the handbook.

Hi, managed to get 20 mins at lunch to have a play.
Turned the auto dip function on as it was set to off, but didn't manage to restore movement of the mirrors.
Did try turning it off and on a couple of times, but with no luck, even tried cycling the ignition and leaving the car to go to sleep before turning the ignition back on.
I realised I had my Nanocom in the car so plugged it in and still didn't have any BCM fault codes.
I'll have another play later hopefully.

Memory module suffering from senile dementia I'm afraid. Do you know the memory is independent for each key used i.e. each key can have its own settings, that's the idea of the memory module when working correctly. Also try pressing the 1st button down at the side of the seat to select your settings, hold the button down if the car is in motion It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

M3DPD - You're a star.
I hadn't tried adjusting the seat since the mirrors stopped working, so hadn't realised the drivers seat was also not adjusting.
You definitely got me on the right track, as after trying to adjust the seat position I had a B1B85 Memory Control Module code pop up on the Nanocom.
I tried the memory button and when that didn't work I pulled the trim off under the seat to see if there was a pinched wire or anything.
Which was when I noticed the connector hanging loose that had come out of it's socket
I'm assuming it's the harness for the control module, as having pushed it back in everything now works as it should.
Not sure how it came out, but just glad I found it.
Thanks

it's unusual for the plug and socket to come apart the are usually very secure and held in position with a locking clip, the main power in is held in with a 4mm screw, check the screw fitted or it may come out again. It can when others can't,

It's strange as I've had to dive in under there in the past when I was getting a clicking noise from under the seat as I was driving along.
That was the same connector, and the noise was the relay clicking on and off as the loose connector came in and out of contact. It felt quite firm when I pushed it back in.
As you say, the main power connectors are held in with a small hex head, so it's not coming apart accidentally.
I've wrapped a tie wrap around the connector now so it can't happen again.
I'm pleased it was an unusually cheap fix, the only price was yet more P155 taking from my colleagues about the car and it's 'character'.
Thanks again
