Superchips Bluefin & towbar questions |
|
Hi all, I am picking up a disco 3 this week so wanted to say hello Thumbs Up I’m getting a silver 2005, black leather all the normal kit plus a dvd in the roof ( the dog will enjoy that), it’s got 122k on the clock with a very comprehensive history and 12.5 k spent over the past 2 years 😜(new turbo, air pump a/c overhaul to name a few) so I’m hoping for good things from it 😀
I have a couple of queries.
I have a superchips bluefin from my old rrsport, is the superchips mapping any good for the disco?
Which is the best diagnostics tool, I’ve narrowed it to a gap iid or an icarsoft, (this is the cheaper one but no good if it doesn’t do the job)
I’ve purchased a tow bar to tow my caravan, we only use it 4/5 times a year so will this be up to the job or do I need an upgraded one if so will Land Rover still do it for free given the age of the car?
how do I find out if if it’s had all the recalls done?
Cheers
Graham

I sent a PM to customer service on here for recall check, CRC@LandRover, or local LR dealer if they feel helpful!

what about towbar electrics ?
No need for any fancy relays/electrics.
Only problem is if the caravan has LED indicators

Re diagnostic tools, there's a good search facility on here and you'll find a few recent threads on this stuff. In summary:
- icarsoft if you just want to view fault codes and have the ability to change the 5 or 6 most common ones
- IID if you want all singing all dancing ability to check/change loads of stuff, and are happy paying 3x the icarsoft price.

Re towbar, I'd have thought a removable one would do the job.
AIUI LR will only fix a faulty removable towbar if it was original equipment.

Thanks guys, I’ll pop into the local LR dealers next week and see if they can help, I want to read through the service history properly as that might throw up more information, I’ll check out the tow bar as well, I’m hoping it’s ok😀
I’ll go with the iid I think, I want to do the job properly.

Any thoughts on the superchips mapping? I don’t want to end up with an issue later cos of a bad map, I would sooner go with one of the ones on here.

I have the bluefin map and it works a treat. I don't boot the D3 but the increase in power was noticeable... 2006 TDV6 HSE Wrapped Matt Black STOLEN NOT RECOVERED
