Maybe its a car age thing - I've had my D4 from new 7.5 years ago - if it was nicked, the insurance wouldn't pay out on the value of the car to me vs. a replacement if that makes sense? - hence precautions
I also heard the interview with the guy from Thatcham - 30% increase in vehicle theft - around our way, decent motors are disappearing on a regular basis - including X2 attempts within 100 yds (thought they did involve the theft of the keys -different problem) and one stolen 2 nights ago - no key theft
I like the idea of an ODB lock but apparently (if this is still the case) those in the know and with the right tech can walk up to any vehicle with push button start/stop, scan for a signal and security code and unlock the car, start it and drive away. So perhaps an OBD lock won't help if crooks are using wireless tech???Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! if I've understood it correctly, it's the no-press keyless entry that they do that way ... key is permanently emitting a signal so they can detect that and mimic it close to the car, so it opens and the canutes drive away.
Perhaps, but is the keyless Start/Stop function in all D4 models not always emitting a signal too. Or does that not cut in until the doors are unlocked?Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! After a tip from another forum member - with a disklock - get the cloth wheel cover so it doesn't mark steering wheel - I also got a cover for the lock - Velcro strips on one side to stop it sliding about
And you need a Medium size (for a D4 - assume D3 the same)
I'd happily look into a group buy if, as site owner, Martin doesn't mind me doing so and offering one up if it's a reasonable offer???Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Couldn't see it on Argos, only the Stoplocks. Then again, it is Friday and my glasses are slowing turning to beer goggles! 8) Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets!
