I find that most of the middle lane hoggers tend to be older rather than younger. The youngsters tend to know because they are taught a lot more of the theory than us older drivers ever were, my daughter knows you should keep to the left and she has never even driven on a dual carriageway let alone a motorway..

Don't see root cause being newly qualified drivers Confused

Typical Censored is 40-50'ish male in outside and doddery old fart wearing a hat or middle aged woman 2" away from the airbag and rigidly staring ahead in middle lane.....

I guess my point was that no one has ever been required to take any motorway instruction so we should not be surprised that people don't know how to use them, this applies to middle lane hoggers as much as BMW/Audi/white vans weaving across lanes etc.

I believe this may be changing?

Try on unrestricted 2 lane Mways in Germany. You're driving along doing the usual 60mph, fast lane clear, boost it up to 75mph to get round a convoy or trucks sitting nose to tail, fast lane still clear so move out. That's when the lunatics doing double my speed come stonking up to my bumper and try and use the force to make you move out of the way, space or not. Sheer madness, almost as bad as Polish motorway drivers and makes the French & Italians look good.

As a BMW driver, I’m with you on that ! My way of dealing with the lane hoggers is to get past when I can and then ease off as I demonstrate how to pull into the nearest available inside lane with just enough room so they don’t wipe out my rear quarter. The number of plodding dribblers that suddenly get the urge to move over themselves is only counterbalanced by an equal number that I see shaking their heads.

Lane hoggers are one thing, but its drivers who pull out into a faster/overtaking lane but never adjust their speed in front of you that get me.

Don't get me started on people that pretty much emergency stop randomly to let pedestrians or squirrels cross when there is a traffic light or crossing in sight. Shocked

1) I have no urge whatsoever to buy an audi Shocked
2) Will Miss Sturgeon help remove BMW drivers? Rolling with laughter

as for the 4 lane bits of the M25, I tend to just sit in the left hand lane and carry on past the dicks sitting in lanes 3 and 4 with, on most occassons NOTHING in lane 2. Utters pricks.

Sorry, I had previously said "rant off". maybe it isnt yet.

Censored My view is, if your wanting to get past the car in front that is hogging the lane, then under take it! What the hell, your both breaking the rules, so you may as well do it properly!

I have no issue at passing slower vehicles on the inside whatsoever ever, except when approaching junctions or services.

BUT the left lane is for TRUCKS!!!!

I used to laugh when I saw Merc drivers (who are worse than BM drivers) sit in the third lane as they THINK they own it now they have a Merc, and Rolls Royce drivers who are happy in the first lane as the KNOW they own it but don't need to use all of it!

There’s also a certain type of driver who has his entire family in the Mazda Bongo (with reversing mirror dangling off the back screen) who is incapable of using either lane to the left or right.

But if there is no vehicle in your lane and your driving, then is it counted as undertaking because some Censored wants to sit in middle/outside lanes and you are at a speed faster than them??

I guess if you move into the inside to perform the over/under take then yes, but not if your already in that lane !!
Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!
