Fog lights not working

Hi All,

I’m hoping someone can shed some light on this fault!
Since using them last my fog lights have decided to stop working. Neither the front or rear lights are coming on and when pulling the light switch I don’t get any illuminated symbol on the dash.

I have checked the following:

1: checked bulbs and all are fine
2: checked fuses and none are blown
3: checked large fuse under bonnet and tried swapping it but no change
4: removed front fog lamps to check wiring and no chaffed wires, added el3ctfical tape just to be sure
5: the light switch is working for side, main and auto settings

Does anyone have any suggestions please? The fuse diagram suggests there should be a relay under the bonnet; R5, but there isn’t one fitted, but I don’t think there has ever been one fitted and the lamps used to work.

With winter and mot coming help appreciated!

Well the common problems for your fault are

1. the big fuse under the bonnet. No.2? 30A
2. maybe the switch
3. broken wire between fuse and switch.
4. relay failed in the BJB (this is bad news)

I would remove the switch. And check to see if you have power there. (that is of course if you are SURE the big fuse under the bonnet it ok)
Check the Brown wire with purple stripe has power on it. (with ignition on)

When the switch is pulled out.
red/orange (rear)
blue/purple (front)
should have power.

You could check fuse number 28 behind the glovebox is ok.

No that relay R5 isn't fitted
