Insurance surprise.
Hello all.
I’ve been with Privilege insurance for years, I try at least every other year to see if there is a better deal for the same cover and haven’t found one.
And they were actually really good 2 years ago when an Ambulance wrecked the back of the D3.
I have two cars insured with them, my 55 Plate D3 HSE and a ‘runaround’ Y reg SEAT Ibiza that I brought off my son when he went off to Uni.
I put him on the insurance for the Ibiza whilst he’s home from Uni during the summer etc.
Tomorrow we have to take all his gear down to his new rented house in Falmouth from our place near Petersfield, and he’s coming home with me again so he can fly out to the states for a 2 week residential course he’s doing as part of his degree(Wasn’t like that in my day).
No problem I thought, I’ll put him on the D3 insurance for a couple of days and he can share the driving, as it’s a long way.
I hadn’t expected them to say No.
He’s had his licence 3 years, never had an accident, conviction or claim etc, but isn’t 21 for another 6 weeks, and it’s simply his age that stops them being able to cover him on the D3.
Has anyone else had this?
Obviously I’m not going to change my insurance company just for this issue at this stage, but I do have to consider my 18yr old son who is staying at home to study, and although we haven’t needed to add him to the D3 insurance yet, it might be useful to do so at some point.
NasherHeaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

A couple of years ago when my eldest was at uni I decided to put her on the insurance for the D4 and they said no also even though she had a couple of years no claims. At the time they said they wouldn't allow anybody under 25 on my policy Cheers Ian

At the other end of the age scale, I was unable to add my dad to my policy as he is 82 and even adding my father in law, who is still in his 60's, added over £100 to my policy, even with everyone having clean licences and no claims.Andy
