Juddering on acceleration

Hi Guys and Girls,

I get a juddering through what appears to be the front axle or prop on acceleration in the lower gears. Once power is lifted and cruising it goes away. Any hints on what may be the problem. I have a manual 2.7 TDV6.

Check your rear prop centre bearing support - you may find the rubber split

Same answer on both auto & manual - check your rear prop
If you put it in off road hight & have a look - where the prop comes out of the ally guard if it moves up & down very freely chances are the mount has failed. Remove the all guard & check it

Thanks I will take a look tonight. If it is broken is it a straight forward fix? Also sorry robshooter for piggy backing your post.

You can get a replacement centre bearing with mount - concensus is it's not worth it & replace the prop. It is possible though.

Just crawled under the car with it on raised suspension. Apart from minimal movement, all seemed to be pretty ok with the rear propshaft. Couldn't get to the front shaft due to underbody guards etc....
Reckon I'll take it to our local 4x4 specialists for their opinion.

Hi,

I have an auto 2005 Disco and i occasionally get judders on accelerating and on braking aswell. Do you get rev fluctuations aswell?

I have read on the forum that a gearbox flush is the answer. Not sure why but several people have said the same. Not sure if this is the same for a Manual though.

I was getting slight judders in 3rd gear when accelerating up banks and when flooring it on slip roads etc, took it to North Eastern 4x4 who installed a "judder fix" kit and all is well now Thumbs Up

If your problem is the same as mine its something to do with the torque convertor I believe, if its a banging noise on acceleration/braking then I think its the prop shaft centre bearing that is worn, mine got flagged up during the MOT, it never failed because of it but I got it changed as a precaution.

Just checked rear and front prop shafts and both are solid with no play. The judder is now a heavy clunk when the automatic changes gear. Also when parked selecting drive or reverse produce a lovely expensive sounding thud.
