Foreign Diesel
Took my D3 through Europe a few weeks ago through:
France, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and then into Croatia.
I noticed a significant drop in power and a huge black smoke cloud when using the "gasoil". I have never noticed this before with my previous D3 or any other vehicle I have taken in to Europe.
As soon as I filled it in the UK - back to normal in terms of power and emissions...
Question, could this be anything to do with the remap my car has had whereby the enhanced "tune" has made it more "fragile" to poor fuel? Or has European fuel just got really ppy of late?D3 07 SE - still going strong
D3 07 HSE - gone to car heaven
FL1 - gone to Romania
D3 05 HSE - gone to a divorce diet
D1 V8 manual - gone but not forgotten
RR Classic - gone to car heaven

I would of thought UK fuel would be to the same standard as other EU members. A lot of the British Standards adopted are copies of their European equivalents (EN standards)... But haven't looked up the standards so can't confirm.
When I was driving through France I was using the Premium fuel as it was cheaper than filling up with Regular in the UK.

I have never had any issues including this year through France to Switzerland . There are different grades available. Overall I did 29mpg corrected.

Ditto. No issues in multiple road trips over many, many years. Sure not something like a split hose? Easy to blame fuel but could well be a bit closer to home.

I noticed a big black cloud behind me when I was coming back up through France a couple of weeks back and that did cross my mind but turned out to be middle sized turbo hose The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

My D3 has been mapped and driven to the Alps and back a few times. Can't say I've noticed any loss of power or much in the way of smoke but the exhaust fumes sometimes smelt awful if you were ever standing near the pipes! A really bad chemical smell.....much worse than in the UK
