Rear hub upper bush replacement

Has anyone tackled this before? If so, how did you do it?

I've seen an old thread where someone mentioned using some threaded bar and using a socket to push them home?

I've also read in the past about putting the bushes in the freezer prior to installation, old wives take or does it actually work?

I've not tried it with the Disco 3 but managed it on the Watts links on my old Disco 2. Putting bushes in the freezer helped.

Freezing shrinks metal, same as heating expands it. It needs to be very good quality threaded bar.

They usually take about 25 tonnes in the press before they crack and move. So I doubt threaded bar will shift it.

I did mine in situ using a tool similar to this

It took me around 45 mins per side to do the top bushes

That's the same set I used on mine in the past.

Doesn't work if the bolt rusts to the inner bush sleeve.

I did both the top and bottom bushes on mine 3 weeks ago whilst I had the knuckles off to do the rear wheel bearings. But I have a 20T press which made light work of getting all the old bearing and bushes out and new ones in. The sleeves I used where the ones below, £99 on Ebay. I only had occasion to use screw bars to fit the lower bushes, but not sure how hard it would have been to press out any of them using the same method.
