halogen vs xenon on the D3
I find the Halogen headlights more than good enough on the road. I have no problem with them at all. On the xenons is it only the dip beams that are hid and the heads still only a regular bulb. Any idea the voltage of the standard xenon bulbs, would they be something like 4800k. Considering doing a little mod. So far it's been all repairs from front to back then back to front again Dicovery 3 (Rimini Red)

My understanding is that there is a shutter in the Xenon units that is lifted when main beam is requested giving you the full beam from Xenons which is supplemented with the halogen bulbs. The voltage is 12v but the 'temperature' of the light is 4800k.-------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes main is Halogen H7, however the D2S dip Xenon has a shutter that opens to compliment main beam with additional Hid light Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Sounds like the shutter would definitely complement the H7. In 2 minds wether to go with with the xenons MOD or go with a front only V8 break MOD. I believe they would be approx the same cost.Dicovery 3 (Rimini Red)

Yup, people (and LR) readily dismiss those extra halogen bulbs, but they make a big difference.
IIRC, the voltage on the HID bulbs themselves is up to 28kV on start up. Can give a nasty zap if you're not careful!Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC
