Hi all,
My '07 D3 only has one key. This one is ok at the moment but will certainly avail myself of the refurb service offered by RRUK elsewhere on the forum in due course.
Have had a quick search on here for options for a second key but am still a bit in the dark! Choices seem to be; 1. Paying top whack from the main dealer for new key, cut and reprogrammed - expensive but no fuss, 2. Same as above but from reputable auto locksmith or 3. Try and source all the component parts (case, blade, gubbins etc.) And find someone to program it to my vehicle (unsure how I would even go about this to be honest!).
What are people's experiences of sourcing a second key and does anyone have any recommendations? I am near Peterborough, so if anyone knows of any companies (sort of) local who they could point me towards, that would also be much appreciated!
Best,
Rik.

Have you got an IID tool? I bought a fairly cheap new key online (about £35), had the blade cut by an auto key place (£10), and programmed it with my IID. Works perfectly and looks like the original.

No personal experience but have heard that Timpson does car keys. Worth enquiring. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

No IID I'm afraid, although if we keep the truck for any length of time, I think it will be a sensible addition to the tool box!
This is probably a silly question, but when reprogramming using an IID, do you have to own the tool/ have it registered to your vehicle? All new to me this side of things!
Will give Timpsons a try, but if their prices are as competitive as their regular key cutting, I might will be off to Land Rover!
Cheers!

Further to yesterday's advice, does anyone know of a reputable independent supplier of replacement keys?

I was in the same predicament. Timsons will get you a key made up, but it ultimately comes from the dealer ! - I asked.
I bought a case from the bay but nobody was interested in cutting the blade.
I found an excellent online service which supplied a blade cut via a photo from this forum.
Already had the IID tool, but programming kept failing. So after a lot of hassle, I'm no further forward.
I use the passenger side to unlock the door and hit the dash switch.

could be wrong here but I believe there are two different frequencies the keys can be on and you need the one your car works with. someone else on here bought what was advertised as correct key but the one that turned up eventually proved to be the other flavour.
