Rear Parking Sensors
First problem already!!
Just bought a D3, and the rear parking sensors don't work.
When you select reverse you get a long beep, but doing a walk test, nothing.
Ideas?

Best case is one or more sensors is perminantly on just like mine. Checked with iid tool and it appears to be intermittent on middle rhs and dead on middle left. Others have found corrosion in the sensor wiring harness. Welcome to the club. Cheers

also got the pleasure of failed rear parking sensors
bought the loom and got to get round removing the rear bumper
noticed on one of the sensors someone had broken the clip and used some silicone to stick the wiring to the outside sensor
doesnt look fun getting the bumper off, especially the side bolt down by the exhausts
also recently learning that the tread plate comes off, doh

hi
no not yet
outer sensors can be replaced without removing the bumper
plugged my iid in today to test the sensors, found its the outside one as i suspected, but tried a new one in there and still didn't work , so will have to remove the bumper and replace the already bought wiring loom after all
to remove the outer sensor i used a socket which fitted to the inside of the sensor and with a gentle tap of a hammer i knocked it into the bumper, as there is an outer bit that stays in the bumper the clip were half broken already and also noticed the wiring loom plug was broke, someone has bodged it by putting silicone on there
can only assume there is a broken wire in the loom
here is a screen shot when i tested the sensors
put the ign on , into reverse , then put my hand in front of every sensor , to allow the iid to perform the test , as before they were all in detected

Its my outer one that has gone, so I am right in thinking I don't need to remove the bumper to change it?
How does it come out, What holds them in?
don't like the socket and hammer approach as above, whats the correct way to remove them?
Thanks

hi
it's clipped in from behind , u have the outer bit that stays in situ , u can indeed change the outer ones without removing the bonnet
when i used the socket i only gently tapped it as i didn't want to crack or damage the bumper, thought i would try it first and the sensor just dropped out
if it hadn't come out i would have used a hook to remove the clips from inside , just found it easier using the socket

Took the bumper off last weekend. Removed all of the sensors and replaced with new from flea bay. Tested them and refitted everything. Jobs a good one. Cheers

Old thread I know, but does anybody know if replacement sensors have a specific direction? I ordered my replacements months ago and have now got the rear bumper in the living room. The new sensors aren't round faced, they are the squared off type, and when they clip into the bumper the box shape is upright (hope that makes sense) when I would have expected it to be on it's side. I could always file the lug off if that would sort the issue?'

On other cars the rectangular sensor face would normally be flat. Like this -
Whether it matters I don’t know.
