I want to get side steps on my D4 but as you would imagine there is a massive difference between dealer and fleabay! Has anyone gone down the fleabay route and are they utter crap?! Do they that/ for etc?
And how easy are side steps to fit generally? Can't be that hard..
Thanks

I got nearly 5 years out of my cheap eBay replacements.
One of the fleabayers tells me he's sold to dealers ... Can't verify that but does make you think.
Savings are substantial so even if you ended up replacing every few years you'd still be £££s better off..

I bought a set identical to those on the first post (the one's in the post above are of a different design to the OEM-like ones in the first post) in 2015 and I never fitted them.
I fitted a set of used OEM originals to my second D4 and now that I've looked in the box again, I'm hard pressed to tell any difference between the OEM and eBay ones (although long term corrosion might tell them apart!).
Powerfuluk has a great online instruction on how to fit the steps and it's really not too bad a job to do at all

I'm not endorsing him btw ... I had a set on order for the first D4 but the replacement already had side steps..

And I can see him listed in the similar items on link you posted ...
I've been considering fitting similar - does anyone make a set with black edging as apposed to silver/chrome? Stands out as a bit blingy for me.

I had fleebay ones for 3 years now rusty as the rest of the car! Still useable but up close there is a quality difference between factory ( if there is such a thing nowadays) and copy.
LR will always state warranty if not bought and fitted by LR............One life live it..........

I had a set fitted on my recently purchased D4 from Land Rover, i would off been happy to try ebay set due to dealer cost but was told that if anything happens there not covered with warranty and they were fitted on collection so pros & cons I surpose, if on a budget then ebay way to go in my opinion.. without looking at invoice think it cost me £500+ surpply & fitting.2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

To those that have recently fitted these - is the silver metal part just cosmetic trim that could be easily taken off and powder coated? Or is it part of the structure?
It's pop riveted on I took mine off a set of used genuine and painted them happy with the results and simple enough to rivet back onRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

I wouldn't fit sidesteps, original or otherwise - I just don't think they are safe.
Tree sliders or the neat tree slides with step inserts are the way to go.
