Oil pump exploded
Hi all,
We have just bought a 2007 Disco 3 with mechanical problems.
We were hoping for something simple but no...
After getting it home and lifting the bonnet, the oil pump has a hole in it and the crank has seized.
Is this definitely a new engine or is it worth buying a new oil pump and then further investigation?
Many thanks for any help, advice, recommendations

Very rare for any engine problem on ANY large 4x4 to be a simple fix.
It was cheap for a reason and so log as its still cheap with another engine fitted its a good deal.

Yes, we got it for a good price and we were prepared for the worst case scenario so this is disappointing but not devastating. Looking at Jags now and hoping to find something.
Thanks, really appreciate all your help.

Who knew how many different models of Jags there were
I dont suppose you would know if all 2.7 Jags fit?
Sorry for the stupid questions but hubby is out and I am investigating
Edited: it looks like the S-Type SE are the only 2.7s, is that right?
Thanks

Just select jag diesel and that should narrow it down.
Jaguar XJ 2.7 should also fit but these will be more money

Does the body have to come off or can the front just be stripped to replace the engine?
Thanks, really appreciate your help.

Quick read of it and I agree DM ... And note I said READ and not SKIM. Wouldn't want to be skimming anything, would we? .

Hubby will have a proper read and a proper look at Disco when he can. It arrived late in the afternoon and he only had a quick look after a quick strip down. Thanks for all your help, really appreciated. Will let you know what he has a proper look and he knows more. I have found a few Cat C and D S Types just in case though
