Road trip to see what happened to good old customer service?
So... due to pick up my 2006 D3 tomorrow ready for the drive back.
Had an agreement with the garage for them to replace cambelts, replace leaking rear aircon pipes and fit either a removeable LR tow bar ( subject to the result of the recall) or a fixed tow bar. Don't care which, so long it is safe to tow a digger on a commercial basis.
It went to Broadfields to do the work and I asked them to do some additional work for me. Things that I would not expect the supplying garage to do.
Broadfields completed my work and the belts. When I asked about the leaking aircon they say they haven't been asked to do anything other than re gas.
I call the garage and he says that they should have done it, it was all on the works order.
I have now seen the "works order" and nothing on it at about pipes.... Why lie about it? If you have made a cock up then say and put it right. We mess all up at sometime.
Broadfields have been spot on. They will do all they can to help but not until the supplying garage agrees for them to undertake the work.
Having got a flight booked for tomorrow to go and collect it, I have chased for some kind of commitment from the dealer........nada ....nothing.
I think they were hoping to send me off with a 're gas knowing that I am unlikely to drive back from France for them to fix it.
Getting off now.

Honesty wont really apply to any car seller in the UK, dealer or private.
Obviously there are some but rare as hens teeth.
Which a/c pipe is leaking? Im assuming its rear a/c, if its the one that runs along the sill its about 170 quid and is diy job to fit.
If the a/c is the only issue I wouldnt be overly concerned.

I don't know which one it is as I haven't seen it. The system was completely out of gas, which to my mind means a leak. I understand that 10% loss per year is normal but it has been a well looked after car with a main dealer FSH. So I doubt that it was just left to empty at 10% per year.
My main issue is the lie, if you agreed to do it just do it. I am only expecting the one along the sill to be done.
If they don't want to do it.....knock 300 off the price and I'll get it done.......
Maybe the FSH ain't worth what I think......see service history post

I said to the dealer that it is highly like to be a leak if it was empty.
He said "he knows lots of people that don't like Aircon and would rather have a window open. Perhaps they never ever topped it up."

Thats salemans talk, and worth bearing in mind the D3 a/c never actually switches off even when you press the eco button, google variable displacement a/c pumps.

Similar experience
No matter what presence or standing you have when you issue a verbal instruction, you think they have taken it in, always follow up with written instructions. Then they can only say they did not comprehend and not say you did not say it. I have noticed that is creeping in to exchanges at garages. What customer service is that...."but you never asked fot this / that.....".D3 2.7 Zermatt silver (not another one)
