I wonder how much better are something winter dedicated like Nokian Winter SUV than something like Pirrelli Scorpion Zero. I have scorpions on currently but there are no sipes in the tread. Any ideas?
In short, lots better. I once forgot to change over my Zeroes to Wintracs and it snowed. Oh my goodness. Needless to say I was out in the snow changing the Zeroes for Wintracs asap. better braking, better cornering, better handling generally and not just a little better, a lot better. Winter tyres are also commonly said to perform better than normal tyres (AT or not) when the temperature drops below 7C.
Zeroes, fabulous tyre for me in the summer, but not in the colder, snowier months.D1 300Tdi - gone

No experience of Wintracs, but I can recommend the Nokians.

TBH Audi quattro and any land rover product especially later ones with traction will do well with pretty much any tyre in typical UK winters even hard ones.
Now RWD cars really do need proper winter tyres just to make progress.
I sort of subscribe to that view. For me the correct choice of tyre that balances normal 'farm' type work (not mud-plugging) with good on-road performance - and then able to cope with some snow (not alpine) would be the one to head for. Most of us that use these vehicles for daily transport and varying needs need that compromise?

got to be honest, you've just described the Duratrac to a tee... I've run them all year round over 25k and theres still well over half tread on them..www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

I also run duratracs on my Amarok and have done 23K miles - still got 8mm on the front and 10 on the back.
Great on the road, mud and snow/packed ice

Just wondering how the stock Wranglers on my D4 will perform this winter ? , we are above 300 meters and am inclined to a dedicated winter tyre but just interested in anyones experience with Wrangler HP AW Tyres in cold/wet/icy/snow .

Hi folks
Just my opinion but the General Grabber AT3 are a superb tyre for mud, rain, and snow .
Also as far as I'm aware they are proper winter tyres as I'm sure they carry the little
Mountain symbol somewhere on the sidewall . Best set of tyres ive ever had !
