CB Radio advice
I'm looking for a CB radio....looking for a cheap <£100 kit with rig, mic and aerial. Needs to go a decent couple of miles.
Anyone got any pointers on what to buy, or if you have 2nd hand kit for sale D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

Would need an antenna to go with it to go with it and coax but they're usually cheap, if you want to vehicle mount it.

If you want functional rather than bling, the Albrecht 6110 is tiny, but the performance is all there, and the price will leave you plenty for an antenna and coax.
The only downsides is the mic is hardwired into the unit, and if you're the type who is always tweaking the squelch, it's a bit more fiddly than just turning a knob.
(The Team Minicom is probably almost the same internally, with different display, but I've no experience of them.)

Coincidently, I have both the above cb's. The Midland is far too quiet. Even in a quiet Disco it's hard to hear when others speak. I find the Albrecht hard to fault, exceptionally small, decent speaker for its size and easy to operate.
I've bought from 4x4cb.com before. Knowledgable and will sell you either cb as a complete system.

Now you mention it, I'd have to agree somewhat with the volume on the alan42 ..I've swapped mine for a president grant 2 premium and use the midland pretty much as a handheld now.

Not exactly hijacking the thread, but I too have been pondering on a CB. Midland 42 was on my list for versatility, but this looks a good, slightly cheaper alternative. I wouldn't want it 'installed' permanently though (which is why I was considering the Midland 42), how is this powered, wired in somewhere or via ciggy lighter?MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff

Mines not in the D3, but my radios are always 'permanently' wired in.
Can't think of any reason it shouldn't work as well as any other CB running from the lighter socket though.
(My VHF rig in the D3 is powered from the wiring that was the boot mounted power socket, and it draws a lot more power than a CB)
