(fixed)She has blotted her copy book, fluid on the deck |
|
Well it had to happen it is a landrover after all, and she was being so good after her service.
But She has blotted her copy book, fluid leaking onto ground. ( power steering fluid)
So I've traced the power steering fluid leak to the metal pipes on the steering rack.
The ones that are part of the rack its self rest is dry so....
I can find the pipes on line but is it possible to change them in situ.

Any help, tips or cheats

All fixed;
First drain the power steering reservoir, remove the sump covers and plastic shield at the fuel burning heater.
Drop both coolers to give access, I found it easier to snip the leaking pipes and use a socket to get the rusty fittings out 11mm.
Fitting new pipes is easy, just take care threading up the fittings as you could easily cross thread them.
Filled up with new fluid and turned the wheels from side to side check for leaks
Refit coolers and sump covers and jet wash the mess of the drive.
