Summer is nearly over so it'll probably not get used much for another 12 months. But the air con has been on constantly for the past two or three months.

Hopefully I won't jinx mine. But mine is 11 years old, air con has never been touched and it would still freeze the off a brass monkey.
Sorry, mine is 13 in December and has never been refilled and still blows freezing cold. Must be something they did right in these early models It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The big misconception with air con is the thinking that it can only be used in the summer months. It should be used or at least run at least once or two a month every month to help keep the seals lubricated and stop them drying out. Also in the winter months it is the best thing in the world for demisting the windows as like a fridge it extracts the moisture from the air. I leave mine switched on all the time and in my works van which was a Transit Connect it only needed regassing once in 5 years. It still worked but had naturally lost a bit of gas due to the enviroment they work in in a car.2006 TdV6 HSE.

When it gets silly hot here I run mine with the recirculation on to give it a bit of a boost.
I usually have the aircon on all year round as well, I was told that it is better for the system to keep circulating.

Using recirc is ok at first for a while as it shuts off the air from outside so will chill the interior air only. Another tip is if you drive to work then leave the car all day, when you return start up and stay outside for about 5 mins to let it cool and also to vent out and get rid of any bacteria that has been sat there festering all day in the vent system.2006 TdV6 HSE.

Dont forget it never actually turns off in the the D3 even when you push the econ button the compressor is still running albeit at very low efficiency of approx 1 percent.

Got the halfords recharge, it's easy. You have to by the pressure gauge also. I found out I have a leak somewhere behind the radiator!
