Getting to the rear of the D4 12v sockets
Looking to power both one of the front 12v sockets and the one behind the cubby fridge directly off the forthcoming aux battery and was wondering how easy it is to get to the connectors at the back and is it a standard spade connector? I couldn't get the rear socket holder off the D3 when stripping her, was wondering how it was on the D4. Will be swapping the D4 cooler cubby box for the salvaged D3 equiv, so was planning to do it when that happened.
I was going to suggest you emptied the boot first as most of your recent piccies have been of your Russian Doll D4 with D3 inside it! 😁
I'll be watching what is said here as I'm planning to move the rear 12v socket as I don't want things plugged into it sticking out into the boot ... Just asking to be knocked.
I'm also intrigued why you're swapping to D3 cubby fridge. Is it a better unit than the D4 one?.

Basically D4 one isn't as cold and takes a lot longer to get there. D3 one, with purple LED, is moooooooooocie cold.
All the D3 stuff is in a spare room waiting on me sorting it all out and getting it all (and more) up for sale.
Now that's got the vultures' attention!!

Hi, sorry to jump in but does that mean the D4 chiller may be surplus to requirements and maybe for sale in the near future. : if so how much would you be considering, is it plug and play so to speak..2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

Still thinking re selling D4 chiller. If I sell it chances are my D3 one will then pack up after 11 1/2 years of use.
I rum my 12v sockets from the aux battery, very simple, pull the relay for them and instead of fitting a jumped link wire to make them per men ant, supply power to the relay holder from the aux live terminal , yes it's a spade connector

Most excellent idea.
Does that one relay cover all the sockets or is there one for the front ones and one for the rear? The rear aux socket is already perm live (crank battery) through the towing electrics so that should mean that, it is a different relay, it only does the centre cubby box outlet.
Daft question, but are the fuses downstream of the relay, hence it would use the original fusebox fuse?
Only downside is I couldn't have one ciggie socket perm live on the aux battery and one ignition live off the crank batter, useful for 12v socket readout.

Ok, more daft questions.
This is my relay layout in the fusebox.

Looks like the relay I need to pull is R1. Off out to check.
PS What are R2 & R4 for? The sticker has the same symbol for F59 but that doesn't have any description in the handbook.

We are officially cooking with gas.

Pulled R1, as expected it killed the RHS front and mid row socket, but the rear one was still live. But unexpectedly the LHS front socket was still live, prob the fabled "cigar lighter" and off R3. Bonus.
Now the obvious question, where would the spade connector go in the above pic? From looking at the diagram on the relay that's terminal 5, lowest most in the above pic?

PS Just having a rummage on t'interweb to see what an Engel would draw (thinking about the 20A fuse/limit for aux sockets) and I didn't need to worry. https://www.campertrailers.org/fridge_draw.htm I think charging my iPhone takes more power!!

Oh, and anyone got any recommendations on 2.5mm2 30A cable from fleabay or is it just take pot luck? This looks OK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251737702046 but it could just be the pretty colours and I'm like a kid in a sweet shop.
And while we're scrounging recommendations, 25mm2 cable to run to the back for expansion?
25mm2 is too big really, I'm looking to run 16mm2 and you can feed that through the trunking on the floor.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

I ran 35mm2 through mine and it went under the trunking.
