I feel the pain for those that have had a vehicle stolen.
A few years back scum tried to break into my house to get the keys.
They only got into the conservatory before they noticed the rest of the house was alarmed and legged it.

The insurance validator was an ex Detective Inspector and said that it was very unlikely to get my car back. He recommended to fit a GPS tracker where you can set a geo fence on the app should the the car move. The unit on his boat has a battery life of 6 weeks on it. http://www.gotek7.com

Just on the subject of buying/fitting a tracker.
Rather than buy an expensive Tracker.... now bear with me ..... is there any reason why you can't use an old iPhone discreetly hidden and connected to power.
Then use 'find my iPhone' to locate the vehicle if it's stolen?
As even if the vehicle is switched off, the iPhone battery will still transmit signal for a good while.

Is this misguided thinking?
Confused

I believe they climb in through the window ... the smarter ones break a back window or the passenger side so they're not sat in broken glass as they drive off.

canutes, the lot of 'em.

Alarm sounded but only until they climbed in the car and somehow diabled it. Maybe 30 seconds max.

By that time they've done what they need to. I miss the nostalgic days when we were reassured that this wasn't happening and there was no proof that it could happen. Whistle Whistle

Like LR told me couldn't happen for post 2011 cars? Happy to share snotty emails with anyone who unfortunately gets to disprove LR.

Sorry to hear this, not good news at all.
As the professional thieves seem to target our cars via the OBD port I fitted a protector to mine.
It won't stop a determined thief but it will slow them down.
Hopefully if they have to spend to much time working on the car they will give up.
Hope the car is found.

That's neat - Where did you source it from as looking to put something similar on mine

2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Landmark LE Auto Waitomo GreyDiscovery 4

Hi, the one I fitted came from Protectavan:

https://www.protectavan.co.uk/vehicles/lan...-protector

It's listed as a Disco 3 but fits the 4 exactly the same.
Very easy to install and comes with new bolts and secures to existing fixing points.
It's a well made piece of kit and should slow them down.
If they can't find the port I'm not sure they will spend much time looking.
At £150 I thought it was a good investment as I plan to keep the car long term.
 D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.
I only work so I can afford to repair my Land Rovers!

Sorry, meant that would be most suitable as a group buy. My sloppy shorthand. Embarassed

I never realised how easy it was for car thieves these days.

Now in the market for an OBD port protector and will be investing in a disklok as a visual deterrent.

Also should go for a tracker but can't afford all three in one hit.

I welded two t-hinges together, bit of cutting and bending plus a £15 lock. it's not pretty and I keep thinking I'll make a version 3 ( v1 was damned ugly !! ) but need to have taken it off and replaced it a few times before I decide what improvements I want before tidying it aesthetically. (took me over an hour to get it back in place after Flack serviced the car !!)

it will deffo slow them down - probably deter some - but still leaves me with a broken window to sort out, so need to get some stickers made I think so they are put off BEFORE causing damage.
